We’re pleased to welcome Freeconvo to the Chesham Fringe Festival this year – and no, it’s not just a couch! It’s a movement that turns public spaces into places for real connection, one conversation at a time.
Local resident Dani Zelli discovered Freeconvo years ago while walking through Central Park in New York.
She said, “I’d seen the group before and was intrigued! So I stopped by to say hi and learnt about the wonderful movement of connecting people, if even for just brief moments. As a fan of the project, I started volunteering as a conversationalist where I would set up the couches or chairs and encourage passers-by to have a sit and a little chat. I had some of the most gorgeous chats with people from all over the world, so many different walks of life – and a multitude of experiences.”
“Bringing strangers together face to face in a peaceful, accepting and kind setting is something I’m very passionate about and would like to see more of in the world, so I am very happy to be bringing it to this glorious town, my new home, Chesham.”
Whether you’re in the mood for a deep chat or just a light-hearted natter, Chesham Fringe Festival and Freeconvo invite you to pause, sit down and connect with someone new. You’ll find some bar stools (provided by The Generals Arms) on Chesham High Street (outside the old M&Co store) on Saturday 24 and Sunday 25 May, with two sessions each day from 12–2pm and 4–6pm.
Come and say hello – you never know who you might meet!
