Awarded Chesham Mayor’s Appreciation certificate

12 Sep, 2026

We are now officially APPRECIATED!

Chesham Mayor, Cllr Parveiz Aslam MBE was introduced as a special surprise guest at the End of the Line Chesham Comedy Club at the close of the evening (after some great acts!) on Friday 11 September – no one knew what was happening so it was a big surprise to see him appear on stage.

Cllr Aslam explained that he was there to present one of Chesham Fringe Festival’s founders, Mark Rann, an appreciation certificate for the festival’s services to Chesham Town Council and Community.

Cllr Aslam said:
“The Chesham Fringe has grown into something quite remarkable. What began in 2024 has developed into a major celebration of arts, culture and entertainment, bringing music, comedy, theatre, cabaret, spoken word and family entertainment into venues right across our town. In 2026 alone, the Fringe featured more than 130 acts across 14 Chesham venues.”

We’re very honoured to receive the Mayor’s Appreciation Certificate and grateful for all the hard work by the core committee and all the Fringe Maker volunteers to be recognised and appreciated by the town and the mayor himself.

The other Mark (Mark Tyrell) who co-runs Chesham Comedy Club with Mark Rann, was presented the same award for the comedy club’s long running services to Chesham – it’s now been making people laugh for around 15 years. A double winning evening for the Marks!

Cllr Aslam said:
“Tonight wasn’t simply about handing out two certificates. It was about saying thank you to two people who have invested their time, energy, creativity and friendship into making Chesham a more vibrant place

“Mark and Mark, thank you for what you do, for working together and for believing that a town like Chesham can host events that attract people from far beyond our borders.”

Our thanks to Cllr Parveiz Aslam for choosing Chesham Fringe Festival for this recognition.

We’re now preparing for Chesham Fringe Festival 2027 which will be from30 April-2 May.
