FAQS

Your questions answered

We're very excited for this year's Chesham Fringe Festival - we've got some great acts in the line up! We look forward to welcoming you to this little town's big bank holiday weekend 22-24 May.

Below is some info you might find useful to help you plan your visit.

What is the Chesham Fringe?

Chesham Fringe is like a mini-Edinburgh Fringe Festival. There is no ‘single’ ticket. Instead, there are different shows/slots over the three days of the festival (Friday 22 to Sunday 24 May, plus a come down event on Monday 25 May).

Performances are either paid ticket events, or ‘Free Fringe’.

Many of the comedy acts test out their Edinburgh Fringe material – so you’ll hear them here first!

Where is Chesham and how do I get there?

Chesham is a historic market town in Buckinghamshire situated in the Chiltern Hills, in the Chess Valley area. It’s is about 25 miles northwest of central London.

Chesham is on the London Underground and is notably the final stop on the Metropolitan line. You can easily get here from central stations including Liverpool St, Kings Cross, Baker St and Finchley Road.

It’s also very near Amersham which is on the Chiltern Railways line (as well as the Met line), so you can also get the overground from Marylebone to Amersham and then jump in a cab to Chesham (about a tenner), or wait for the next Chesham train. Easy peasy!

If you’re from the surrounding local area Chesham is on the Carousel buses route Hemel Hempstead, Chesham, Amersham, High Wycombe (or in reverse). You can find bus route details on Carousel Buses website.

Ticketed performances

All performances that you need a ticket for need to be booked beforehand. This ideally would be in the lead up to the event. If there are tickets still remaining on the day, you can buy them online right up to the performance start time.

You might also be able to buy tickets on the door depending on availability, though these will be at a slightly higher cost (usually about £2.50 more).

Some shows sell out so we recommend buying tickets in advance for guaranteed entrance.

Are there any age restrictions?

Many of our shows are open to ALL AGES. This will be made clear on the ticket website in the individual event. There may be age restrictions for some performances, or adult only on others.

For all-ages shows, parental discretion is still advised since we can never know if an act says a naughty word! There are also shows specifically for children, which will be age-appropriate.

This may be the first opportunity for some families to bring their children to a real life theatre show, or live music gig!

Ear defenders are optional, but may be advisable for very young children during music acts.

Free Fringe performances

Please arrive with plenty of time to spare prior to the performances. All the Free Fringe events will be open to the general public. There is no ticket reservation and entry will be on a first come first served basis. Once capacity is reached, the venue entry will be one out / one in.

If you enjoy the performances, please support the artists by donating some cash to the collection towards the end and after their set. There may also be an electronic card reader used for donations if you don’t carry cash.
